massmouth's first JP story slam took place at Bella Luna on Sunday, October 17th, 2010 to a packed room. What is a story slam?
Based on a poetry slam format and similar to American Idol, a story slam is a contest of words by known and undiscovered talent. massmouth posts a theme on it's website and story slammers will sign up on the night to tell a 5-minute short story on the evening's theme and a lucky ten names will be drawn at random from a bag. There will be a team of 5 judges - interested amatuers, who love stories. CLICK HERE to watch the video of the first place winner, JP resident: Elizabeth Wylie.
That being said slams will be held monthly on the 3rd Sunday of the month (Dec 26 is the only exception) and the next theme for JP is "MEDICAL MADNESS" on Sunday, NOVEMBER 21 with special guest host Miss HoneySuckle Duvet (aka Amber P. Knight). Get there by 6:30 to put your name in the hat to tell and eat beforehand, there won't be any tables in the lounge!
