Do stuff with and for your neighbors

Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly is a national, non-profit, non-sectarian, volunteer based organization committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly. We offer volunteers the opportunity to join the elderly in the celebration of life.

As part of our Holiday Visitation Program, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly makes visits to over 400 of our Elder Friends on Christmas who are without family to celebrate the holiday. We are seeking Visiting Volunteers for Christmas Day. We have our Visiting Volunteers pick up a meal and gift for the elder at Northeastern University’s Stetson West Dining Hall between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Christmas, December 25th. At that time we will assign you an elder in a neighborhood of Boston. We ask you to spend approximately 30 minutes with your Elder Friend.

We are also seeking volunteers to drive elders to and from our holiday party. The party takes places on Christmas Day from noon-2pm at our Jamaica Plain location. This is an especially fulfilling opportunity because drivers stay and enjoy the party with our elders.

Both volunteer opportunities are great for families.

Please e-mail Megan Curtis at mcurtis.bos@littlebrothers.org for an application for more information, or call Little Brothers at 617-524-8882. Thank you for considering volunteering your time to make the holiday special for our elders! We think this will be a special experience for you as well.
