Neighbors for Neighbors

Do stuff with and for your neighbors

Sometimes lifefeels too hard; the resources seem too few to get done what we want; time seemsto short to fit it all in; life feels too lonely - like no one understands whatwe are going through.  However,Peter, who was called as a fisherman - who literally walked with Jesus, saw Himdie and interacted with the Risen Christ, does not agree with suchassessments.  He wrote, "[Jesus']divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through ourknowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness." (2 Peter 1:3)

Let's think aboutthis for a moment ... He's given us everything?  Really?  Allthat we need?  How can this be?

God has given youall that you need to do what He wants you to do.  He is not leaving you resource-poor to accomplish what Hewants for you or through you.  Hehas given you the internal resources and He provides the external resourcesthat are necessary.

The difficultaspect of the equation is that we don't often know specifically what God wantsto accomplish in a given setting. He is often working character maturity in our lives throughdifficulties, hardships and challenges. If we fix our eyes too tightly on accomplishing our goals, imaginingthey are God's goals, we may be tempted to think God is not providingappropriately.  However, if we willfix our eyes upon the will of the Father - as a matter of faith and conviction, and hold our perspectives somewhat loosely in comparison, we can rest in Hissovereignty and promises.

You do not needanother book, sermon or song in order to live a godly life ... you simply needJesus!  You must believe that He isGod for you and in you, and that His life within you will accomplish Hispurposes.  And, you need to do yourbest to cooperate with His leading and truth.  You do not need to try to be (like) anyone else or lay holdof resources that are outside your grasp. You can simply be and become who God has created you to be, and obeyHim.

God the Father "hasblessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ."(Ephesians 1:3)  You have enough todo not only what you need to do, but also for what is best for you to do -guaranteed!  Let's repeat together,"It might not seem like I have very much, but I know that I have all that Ineed to do what God wants to do through me."  So, let's not hold back or hide any longer.  Let's be bold with what God has givenus and exercise or implement or invest the resources He has deposited in ourlives.

Relying on God with you,
Pastor Tom
