Neighbors for Neighbors

Do stuff with and for your neighbors

I've ordered my last meal from Joy Rice Cafe on Wash. St.  About a year and a half ago they got a new "chef".  The minute I opened the box I knew it had changed.  It was not as good and was prepared diffferently.  I waited several months and tried again.  Food not bad.  It gripes me that they have a $10.00 minimum for delivery and have a $2;00 del. charge on top of that.  But -- I know that and deal with it.  Today my order came to just under $10.00 and ended up costing me $12.00 but that's my choice.  When it was delivered there was no hot mustard, sweet sauce or soy sauce included.  I called the rest. and was told I didn't ask for any.  I've been ordering from them since they opened.  I told her I never had to ask before, it was always included.  I asked if we now have to ask for it?  The answer was "sometimes" ???  Sometimes?  we never had to before.  She said again "sometimes."  When you call there she is like a broken record, Just keeps repeating same thing. I would think that if this is their new procedure she would ask during the ordering if we wanted any?  I asked if he could come by and drop off mustard and sweet sauce and was told no.  I said "I'm 2 blocks up the street, can't he drop some off?"  She said " he WON'T do that."  I said "then I WON'T be ordering from you again, nor will anyone else here that I work with."  What happened to cust. service?  I'm in a business where we do all possible to make customers happy but apparently that is not the norm:anymore?  One of my favorites they "have" is Shao Mai.  I ordered it a few months ago and was told "we don't have that today."  I've tried a few times and have been told the same thing.  I guess the new chef doesn't know how to make it but she keeps saying "we don't have it today."  I said to her " you tell me that every time,  Do you no longer have it?"  Again I got," not today. " Apparently they no longer have it but have not re-printed their menus.

Can anyone give me the name of a good Chinese rest. in the area that does delivery at lunch.  I'm pretty much stuck in office and rely on delivery.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try. Once I write a letter to the owner of Joy Rice I'm going to throw away their menu to make sure I don't "weaken" at some point in the future. LOL.
