Event Description

Festival Garden in JP is the large raised bed that is next to the basket ball court at Stony Brook T in the Southwest Corridor Park Garden.  The intention is to grow food that can be picked by anyone, raspberries, strawberries, herbs, whatever we plant.  As part of this project there will be opportunities to be artistic (we should make the planting arrangements look ornamental), to learn about horticulture and permaculture, and to educate others about urban agriculture.

The kick-off for the garden is this Sunday, June 12th, at 12 noon until 5:30pm during the Bikes Not Bombs - Green Roots Festival that will be going on in the same area as the garden.  We will weed and mulch the garden, replant some of the daylilies that are in the bed so that space is opened up to do other plantings, and plant raspberries and whatever else we have.  If you are interested come by and help, or sign up to the Google Group - https://sites.google.com/site/festivalgardenjp/

The Bikes Not Bombs Green Roots Festival has been postponed until June 26th, so we won't be gardening today because of the rain.  Next planned work day will be Saturday morning June 18th, for more information sign up to the Google Group  http://groups.google.com/group/festivalgardenjp
