I'm quite interested in the JSP project by Jackson Square. As I'm on the board for my neighborhood association, and we have our own set of issues to deal with and lots of associated meetings, I have little time left for Jackson Square related meetings, but that doesn't mean I'm not as interested. After reading the Gazette article, it seems that if there is any question about the efficiency or necessity of where public monies are spent, having meetings open to the public, the press and well announced is a priority. Especially when much of the fundraising for those projects came from dethroned Dianne Wilkerson.

In the current financial climate shouldn't we be looking only at what is absolutely necessary - and not just what "would be nice"? I'm curious as well, what sorts of secondary and tertiary expenses have been considered for some of these recreational facilities? For instance, what will it cost the city to have additional police enforcement at a huge skating and swimming facility?

I'd love to hear thoughts from the community on this. As I have been to NONE of the meetings and only followed via the web I may very well be missing information. The article can be read in full at The Boston Home Team Blog.

I'd like to know what folks think about the new Brewery development. I love the idea and I'm psyched to have the new businesses there but I'm really concerned about the lack of environmentally friendly planning. Their getting ready to put in tons of asphalt that will dramatically increase the heat envelope of the area. Any thoughts?

Will. Consider renaming the group JP Community Development - so you can see the title easier, on the side bar.
