 Early this morning around 3:03AM, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) arrested suspect, Brett G. Callahan, 20 of Charlestown and charged him with Breaking and Entering in the Night with Intent to Commit a Felony, and Possession of Burglarious Tools.Officers initially responded to 362 Centre St.  as a result of a commercial alarm going off.  Officers arrived on scene and almost immediately detected noise coming from the rear of the building. JAMAICA PLAIN BUSINESS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

 Around 2:00pm, on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain), members of the BPD’s Licensing Unit, Hazmat Team, as well as, the City’s Inspectional Services Department (ISD) responded 3575 Washington Street (Boston Best Auto) to conduct an environmental inspection of the business located at the aforementioned address. Info from 2000 Census

A little info about JP that I thought some of you might find interesting from the 2000 census that I found on line.  Jamaica Plain is 3.07 sq miles. The gross population density/sq mile was 12,402.  The foreign born population was 22.9 % .  The unemployment rate was 5.5%.  There were 16,536 housing units.  95.2% of the housing units were occupied.  The median gross rent was $808. The pop of JP was 38, 074.  14.7% worked in service jobs and 55.9% worked in management or professions.

"It looks like this chart applies to the arrests made, not to the crimes committed. So no arrests in E-13 for homicide in 2010. Not a very good record considering the events of the past year."

Captain,
There has been a car alarm going off on the street a few houses away from mine (on Wyman Street) since noon today. It is 4:30 now. THREE different people have called the police, and one person told an officer passing by in his car, who said he would 'call it in.' No one has come to check it out. We are going completely crazy! It is too hot to close the windows.

It is a dark green SUV, license plate F63765. Please help us!
