Looking for volunteers

The JP Farmers' Market located in the Bank of America parking lot would like to provide access to EBT/ Food stamps benefits and grant monies associated with the Boston Bounty Bucks for EBT recipients at the market.

However, because they don't have a market manager, in order to participate they would need help processing EBT cards (almost exactly like a credit card) and end of the day paperwork (20 minutes worth).

Market hours

Please consider donating

Each year Community Servings walks in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and each year the organization donates money to our meals program in support of the meals we deliver to those battling breast cancer.

This year my co-worker Loni will be walking; If you can spare a dollar or two, please consider supporting her. I will be. (It's the least I can do, especially because it means I don't have to do the walking ;-).

Giving Thanks

As coordinator of Community Serving’s first annual Farmers’ Market, I want to thank all the wonderful people that contributed to our success this year. We were so pleased to work with Millbrook Farm out of Concord, Silverbrook Farm from Dartmouth, Big Sky Bakery out of Newton, Earthworks Boston, The Greenest Bean out of Bedford, Organic Renaissance out of Lexington, Jamaica Plain’s very own Farm Stand Fine Art & Jewelry, and all the volunteers who helped setup the market, tear it down, and… Continue

It's all about Pie! At Community Servings' Farmers Market

Technically, 'pie season' as those in the know call it, doesn't actually begin until October 1st -- but I loved the pecan pie hat and decided a preview was in order. So, tomorrow I'll be wearing the pie hat at the Community Servings Farmers' Market. To give you an idea of what a pie hat actually looks like, I've posted the attached photo.

'Pie' at Community Servings is about feeding those who can't feed themselves. It's about people who are… Continue

Celebrate Summertime Bounty at JP's Farmers' Market this Sunday 10AM to 2PM (behind the Stony Brook T station)

Stop by and meet our newest farmer from Concord, Massachusetts: Millbrook Farm. They'll be bringing beautiful blueberries, peaches and nectarines; gorgeous beans, corn and summer squash -- just to name a few!

And if you're interested in the perfect August recipe to celebrate all that the farmers' market has to offer, THINK GAZPACHO!

At The Cantata, our Fruit Gazpacho was made with:

Apples, pears, peaches,… Continue

New Community Supported Fishery (CSF) to start Tuesday, August 18th

Most days I break out into song . . . 'food, glorious food, what I wouldn't do for . . ' begins my only refrain. Most people who know my singing, are thankful. I'm tone deaf. Musically that is.

Now, food-wise, I tend to be a bit more 'on key' so to speak. Food gives me joy. And because that's true, I end up wanting to share that which gives me joy. Hence, my blogging about food.

Today's blog is about fish.

Back in June, JP became one of the first locations for a… Continue

Monday Night's Dinner

This past year I've been on a quest of sorts.

I want a pantry. What I have is one cupboard above my counter top, a 1/2 cupboard above my stove, and another 1/2 cupboard above my icebox -- better known in these parts as a fridge. Oh, and I have a standard, apartment-sized fridge and freezer.

Let me explain. To me, pantries are where you go to play with food. What you have or keep or have easy access to -- that's what you get to play with in your kitchen.

So, my… Continue

Farmers' Market Launches at Stony Brook this Sunday July 12th

Hi Neighbors,

There are few things that I'm more passionate about than food. And farmers' markets are an intregal part of that passion. Over the past month I've been fortunate to get the chance to begin building one in my own neighborhood: Stony Brook. Tomorrow is a start. I hope you'll join us. And not only do I hope you come to the market, but that you'll help me build this into a really vibrant community space.

Info on the market:

The market launch is this Sunday,… Continue
