NEIGHBORSFORNEIGHBORS.ORG ACTIVATES SNOWCREW

A FREE SELF-SERVE ONLINE SHOVELING TOOL FOR THE EDERLY, DISABLED, AND SICK
TO REQUEST SHOVELING ASSISTANCE FROM THEIR NEIGHBORS.

March 13, 2013 (Boston, MA). NeighborsForNeighbors.org activates its SnowCrew program to coordinate the shoveling out of elderly, disabled and sick neighbors.

SnowCrew, first launched in 2010, has been initiated to facilitate shoveling assistance for elderly, disabled, and sick neighbors during the blizzard set to slam the Boston area on Friday and Saturday with up to 3 feet of snow.

The initiative, powered by SeeClickFix.com, makes is possible for those in need and those who look after them to request shoveling assistance and have notifications sent to those nearby and those who follow #snowcrew on twitter to dig them out. This free service has proven beneficial in pilots in 2010 and 2011 and is available to anyone in Boston in need.

Joseph Porcelli, founder of Chief Executive Neighbors of NeighborForNeighbors.org, and lead organizer behind SnowCrew states - "Snow Storms are the perfect excuse to get outside, meet your neighbors, and lend a hand to those in need." Joseph goes on to say, "Storms often leave the elderly, disabled, and sick neighbors trapped for days-on-end with out access to food, medication, and interaction with others. SnowCrew provides them with freedom and access to basic necessities."

To add a request to be shoveled out or to find out who needs shoveling near you, visit bit.ly/SnowCrew2013.
