Neighbors for Neighbors

Do stuff with and for your neighbors

Neighbors:

Gooooood Mornin' to ya!

Thank you all for signing up and helping us put this program together so quickly. Special shot outs to our neighbor Roy, for taking on the lead as "Dispatcher", and Joe, Chad, and Jordan from GroundCrew for working so hard to support us and for generously sharing their technology with us.

Some house keeping:

  1. Anyone who participates in this program does so at their own risk.
  2. We are going to be going out in groups. It will be funner (yes it's a word) and safer that way.
  3. The snow today is heavy, it's windy, and we need to be careful.
  4. Our top priority is your SAFETY. Take it easy, go slow, stay hydrated, and take lots of breaks.
  5. We are not charging nor paying anyone to help. We are doing this as volunteers - cause we care and wish to help our neighbors -  AND have fun together!
  6. Charge your phones, drink lots of water, and get your carbs on!
  7. Turn your ringers WAY up - keep your phones in your chest pockets so you can hear them - turn them on vibrate too.

Schedule: Subject to change

  • 8:00 AM - I will send a message to everyone asking you to confirm you understand you are participating at your own risk. You must reply back if you want to participate - legal stuff.
  • 9:00 am - Roy will begin assessing the SnowCrew's availability. Please respond to roy!
  • 9:00 am - 4:00 pm - We be gathering more requests for shoveling, recruiting team leaders, and dispatching teams out as they are available and needed.
  • 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm - This is when we expect to do the majority of Shoveling together.
  • 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm - Beverage-o-clock - we'll meet somewhere for warm beverages and neighborly cheer!

Leave your questions and suggestions below.

Please also read through other discussion threads in this group to give your feedback on other questions.

You rock!

Hello all!

Thanks so much for your work on this--what a great idea!

I've submitted the form for the Egleston Square business district.  This might not seem like an obvious area of need, BUT:

  • many of the merchants live outside of the district and won't be able to make it in to shovel making pedestrian travel very treacherous and the merchants could also get fined.
  • the businesses are severely negatively impacted by storms like these, and seeing friendly, helpful faces (who might even buy a hot coffee or granola bar from them) would make a huge difference.

I also submitted the Egleston Square Peace Garden, at the corner of School and Washington Streets.  This is a community park, which Clear Channel has leased to ESAC.  Urban Edge's management company, Winn, occasionally helps by shoveling the long sidewalks around the park, but they are not always reliable, so if we could handle that as well, that would be fantastic!

I'm reachable on the Egleston Square Main Street cell phone: 617-522-7752.

THANK YOU!

Hi Betsy & Joseph,

I am happy to help in this area and can head up there later. Joseph, the plan is to head out at 4, so is that the time to go there or earlier? If you let me know a time I can E-mail our neighborhood lists.

Brandon

Brandon. We are working out details now. Looks for texts shortly.

Will be back in touch.

Brandon - we are all meeting at my house on Becher at 4:30. Almost everything is done.

Can we get an update on the shape of Washington Street?
