Keep the T Rideable for Mothers with Children

The T is looking do ban open strollers, but taking a poll first. "Do you think baby strollers should be folded before customers board a bus?"

The most effected demographic by this rule would be single mothers with children, mostly in poor or minority neighborhoods that rely on bus traffic and are already historically under-serviced by the T.

If we start voting against the innocent b/c they are inconvenient to us, then we break the very bonds that a civil society is built on and go down a slippery road.

Who is next? Ban youngsters with back packs? Ban wheelchairs? The business men must have space for their briefcases after all.

Which is safer, 2 small children not holding mom's hand b/c she is folding a stroller or a grow adult having to walk around an open stroller?
Which takes up more space, 2 small children wandering around and a mom holding a folded stroller or 2 small children buckled in place with a mom pushing and controlling the stroller?

This rule would likely start with buses and then move to the train and commuter rail.

I don't see how I would be able to take my kids on the train safely without a stroller.

I have a friend whose young daughter bit through her lip after falling on the bus b/c the mom hold a folded stroller and wasn't able to hold on to her 2 children well enough.

Please vote against this unsafe proposal! It is an attack against the most vulnerable and innocent, single-mothers and young children.
