Event Description

The Clothing Exchange is a clothing swap for both men and women. Swapping is a fantastic way to revitalize your wardrobe AND it is also a super environmentally-friendly thing to do. You're diverting clothes from landfill, cutting carbon emissions, opting for fashion without exploitation AND saving money!

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door (cash only)
One free non-alcoholic beverage is included in ticket price

Proceeds benefit First Church, Unitarian Universalist and Goodwill Industries of Massachusetts.

Here's how the Clothing Exchange works:

For both men and women. (Sorry, no children's clothing at this time) Bring your new, like-new or gently worn and clean items to swap: clothing, shoes, hats, bags, belts, scarves, jackets, outerwear (no underwear!) jewelry, and accessories. All sizes and all seasons both men's and women's items are welcome. Please put jewelry into ziplock bags, and pin things together that come in pairs so they stay that way (like gloves & mittens).

Remember: bring something that you are proud to pass on. If you wouldn't lend it to a friend, don't bring it to the swap! We screen garments to uphold the quality, and the event organizers have the final say as to what's swappable and what's not. We won't accept swimsuits, undies, anything stained, ripped, or otherwise damaged beyond repair.

We swap on a one-for-one exchange, which means that for each swappable item you bring, you'll get a ticket. You get to bring home one item for each ticket you receive. Cool! The more you bring to the swap, the more you go home with!

All remaining items will be donated to Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries of Massachusetts.

Two Options for clothing drop-off:
:: ADVANCE Drop-Off: Saturday morning 10:45 to 11:30
:: Or, just arrive at 12:30 with your stuff for swapping

First Church located on the corner of Eliot Street and Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, MA. The exact address is 8 Eliot Street. If taking public transportation, it's right on the #39 bus route. It's also under a mile from both the Stony Brook and Forest Hills T-stops on the Orange Line.

VOLUNTEER!

We need just a few more volunteers to make the event really rock. You'll help out a great cause, plus you'll get FREE admission!

Volunteers are needed all day on Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Shifts are 2 hours each. Just a few of the things we need help with:

:: Setting up/breaking down
:: Sorting clothes
:: Keeping the swapping area and dressing rooms neat
:: Checking in/Checking out
:: Raffle ticket sales

If you're interested in volunteering or have something you'd like to donate for the raffle, please email Sarah Hawkins at firstchurchswap@gmail.com. Happy swapping!
