THE VIDEO UNDERGROUND and UFO HEFEWEIZEN present:

"THURSDAY NIGHT BACKYARD SUMMER FILM SERIES"

Video Underground - 385 Centre St. JP - 617.522.4949

Every Thursday night at 8pm - $5 donation

MAY 5TH @ 8pm - HUMAN HIGHWAY (1982)

I'm watching this movie in anticipation of catching my two favorite actors, Dean Stockwell & Dennis Hopper, in a couple of offbeat roles....but wait, is that Devo? And who is the weird character in the doll's mask? And why is the art direction so...arty? And Neil Young, with buck teeth and thick glasses, acting like a kid brother of Jerry Lewis....hold on, this ain't no offbeat movie - this movie is so OFF the beat, it's incredibly hip! I couldn't stop watching the damn thing....yep, Neil is really singing "Tonight" from West Side Story while wiping the windshield, 'cause, you see, Russ Tamblyn is his buddy, and, oh forget it.....Then, to find out Dean Stockwell and Russ Tamblyn helped write this production...and, what, you say Stockwell directed it? I'm in love. This rare gem is only available on VHS and is out of print. Don't miss your chance to see it on a big screen!

MAY 12TH @ 8pm - WOELLERT & CLARK

Woellert & Clark is a shadow puppet company based in Jamaica Plain.

Woellert and Clark are puppeteer Matthew Woellert and writer Jonathan Clark, who grew up together in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to puppeteering, Matthew is also a visual artist and musician. Jonathan is a fiction writer and storyteller, and he is also the theater critic for the Weekly Dig. Sam Ranger is the second puppeteer, and Rachel Dyer is the lighting and sound technician. The original music was written by Michael Warren.

MAY 19TH @ 8pm - Bicycle Repair presents:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

Sassy James and Revolution host a night of classic horror. En route tovisit their grandfather's grave (which has apparently been ritualistically desecrated), five teenagers drive past a slaughterhouse, pick up (and quickly drop) a sinister hitch-hiker, eat some delicious home-cured meat at a roadside gas station, before ending up at the old family home... where they're plunged into a never-ending nightmare as they meet a family of cannibals who more than make up in power tools what they lack in social skills...

MAY 26TH @ 8pm - Transient Voices: A Night of Boston Based Film and Video

A diverse collection of short works by current locally based media-artists.

These selections have been brought together to display an ebb and flow of those who come to reside in our fine city, to draw from and bring influence to the ever expanding and changing community of moving image artists that call Boston home. Works by Rob Todd, Paul Turano, Tara Nelson, Nicky Tevarez, Adam Paradis, Frankie Symonds,

LJ Frezza, Ben Mosca, and more TBA!
