Some time ago there was discussion here about a proposed Brookline(?) bylaw to ban styrofoam disposable beverage containers used by Dunkin' Donuts and the like.

Today I have learned about The Mug Project ®, run by Joseph Porcelli, who I know from running http://neighborsforneighbors.org/
The concept is bring your own mug into a participating business, use it instead of their disposable container, and get a discount.
Win-Win-Win. Waste is reduced, the business' expenses are lowered and the consumer gets a price break.

Use a mug. Reduce Waste. Get a discount!
Description
The Mug Project ® is a community of individuals and organizations that advocate the use of mugs to reduce waste caused by single serve beverage containers.
First launched back in 2008 by Joseph Porcelli and Dan Goldsbury, The Mug Project brought needed attention to this cause. Five years later, while progress has been made, if you look around disposable beverage containers are still being used and not recycled. Our answer, relaunch the project. Thanks for joining us!

Hi all!

Just wanted to suggest putting Mug Project stickers on the mug.
I had a sticker, but didn't use it until the logo on the mug became tiring.

Guess what happened~ much to my astonishment, people suddenly DID start asking me about my mug. And the LISTENED to the Mug Project Story and wanted to become involved.

Put a sticker on the mug for 2 weeks and check out the new conversations that pop up.
