To those who knew and love Jaewon,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like he was a thoughtful, caring, and positive kid with a whole lot of living left to do. It breaks my heart that things like this happen in our neighborhood. We as a community can do better.

My thoughts are with you.

Dear Jaewon Martin family and friends,
There's nothing to say that will make this senseless loss understandable or your grief any less but I hope you know that the entire JP community and the city of Boston have felt the impact of Jaewon's loss and hold you in our hearts. I hope that the accomplishments and memory of Jaewon, who seemed like a remarkable boy, can inspire others to promote peace instead of pain.

The loss seems unimaginable. It is not something that should have happened. It should never happen like that.
I am a teacher in the BPS and know so many great boys Jeawon's age. They are great kids who deserve only the best. I am sure that he was too. This kind of violence needs to be stopped on our streets. My heart
and thoughts are with you. The world is a little sadder still.

I was so shocked and saddened when I heard what happened to this bright shining star of a boy. I am so sorry and I am praying for your whole family. When I read the Gazette article, I was immediately moved to write letters to the DCR (state organization that controls the Southwest Corridor Park), the Boston Police Commissioner, the JP liaison of the Mayor, Mayor Menino, and to Deval Patrick too. We have to unite to stop this violence. I think the city should build many more safe youth centers where our children can play. They certainly should name one after your precious boy. May lots of love and light surround your family. May Jeawon's spirit shine peace down on our city and inspire us to action to protect our children and especially our teenagers.
Love,
Karen

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can only begin to imagine what it would be like to lose a child so young, but to lose him in such a senseless way, that is beyond me. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
