I've been in JP just over a year now, formerly a resident of Allston/Brighton for nearly 10 years, and have not had much luck finding a great breakfast sandwich. I'm over near Forest Hills but would travel for a great sandwich. I used to eat egg & cheese sandwiches all the time, normally picking one up and running to catch the T. Would still like to! And yes, I also have a food blog (

So far my…

Neighbors,
On Saturday, I was trying out my new
Nokia N96 (AWESOME) and filming what neighbors had to say about Domino's potentially opening up a store at 467 Centre where petal and leaf used to reside.
I interviewed folks I ran into. This in no way should be considered "a scientific study."
Note: There were two people I did speak with who were in favor of a…

I knew that would get your attention. I decided that rather than just bitch about dogs peeing on my bushes - I would elaborate on the bushes a bit. I recently posted this story about my Japanese styled garden and I'd love to have some feedback, discussion and potentially some trades with local gardeners!…

Neighbors,
Did you recently loose your job? I did, and it's not pleasant - and sometimes it really sucks.
Fortunately for me, I've had a couple of friends who've "been-there done-that" and helped me craft my plan - but I still have questions and could use a little support.
Can you relate to this?
Would you prefer not to travel this journey alone?
Do you have knowledge to share and questions you'd like answers too?…

The City of Boston’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program trains citizens to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their communities. In May 2009 the Mayor's Office of Emergency Preparedness will launch it's 3rd CERT program in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood and is looking for volunteers interested in taking the free course.
Through CERT, citizens learn skills and concepts that prepare them to assist victims, organize volunteers,…

Neighbors,
Late last night a friend of mine told me about a very cool contest by We Media and Ashoka's Changemakers. They are searching to find the best new ideas for inspiring a better world through media and technology. They are looking for business and non-profit ideas and will award $50,000 in seed funding to the innovators who can bring the best ideas to life.
I submitted an application early this morning (thanks to Adrian D for editing) to expand our Neighbors for…

Neighbors,
I'm writing to invite you to a unique workshop tonight that explores where guns that are used in crime come from, and ironically, a celebration of life on a young neighbor who's life was taken aby a gun, a couple of months ago.
Please see the end of this post for an important notice about being notified of new discussions on the network.
Where do crime guns come from?
Tonight, at the Julia Martin House (by Stop and Shop), from 6 to 8…
