Please help me welcome new members!

Neighbors,

With so many new people joining the network this week, I can't keep up with welcoming folks and doing all the other stuff I need to be working on - like prepping for our Board Meeting tonight and coordinating to make sure all the flyers we are printing are getting where they need to be.

Would you be willing to leave greetings for new people who join an offer and offer to help them get acquainted?

If so, please reply to the… Continue

Crime and Safety Alert Next Steps!

Neighbors,

Thanks for the awesome response to my email and blog post yesterday! Since the rash incidents, no one else has been robbed - let's keep this up!

Here are our next steps:

1) Let's do the Safe Walk program again. SafeWalk entails passing out information to our neighbors on our streets, at local businesses, and at our T-stops and bus stops to warn them about what's happening. To sign up to flyer your street and local businesses or your T-stop or bus stop… Continue

Call 911 to report suspicious behavior

Everyone must call 911 when they see suspicious activity/behavior and or witness a crime - and even if you get away from an attempted crime. The thieves will be waiting for the next person to come along.

Calling 911 provides the Boston Police Department with data to make decisions on about when and where to deploy patrols. It also helps them identify trends.

So what is suspicious activity/behavior and when should you call 911?

Below are some examples. Please… Continue

Over the last seven days there has been a big increase in crime in Jamaica Plain. We need to do some organizing!

Specially, last night there were 5 incidents on and near Boylston Street.

At 6:10 and 6:36 pm on Boylston and Amory and then on Center and Forbes street two our neighbors were robbed. The suspects were described as two slim White Hispanic males in their late teen, one was wearing a red hat and grey hoody and the other had curly hair… Continue

It's all about Pie! At Community Servings' Farmers Market

Technically, 'pie season' as those in the know call it, doesn't actually begin until October 1st -- but I loved the pecan pie hat and decided a preview was in order. So, tomorrow I'll be wearing the pie hat at the Community Servings Farmers' Market. To give you an idea of what a pie hat actually looks like, I've posted the attached photo.

'Pie' at Community Servings is about feeding those who can't feed themselves. It's about people who are… Continue

Robbery in JP

Hi everyone,

For those of you who do not know, my wife and I were robbed recently. We are missing 11 pieces of jewelry that have considerable monetary and sentimental value. Needless to say, we are very upset.

The most disturbing thing is that there was no break-in, no forced entry. The person who robbed us had a copy of our key! We have a good idea who it is and we are actively looking for him. I am reluctant to mention his name in case he is innocent. However, all signs… Continue

This is a common scam over the internet or by mail known as a "419 Letter" due to the violation of the section of Federal Law. Please be cautious about unsolicited emails that sound to good to be true. Go to the website below the narrative for more examples.

Bicycle Theft

A lot of bicycles have been stolen this seaon in JP. I have been in charge of the property that comes into the station for about the last year and many bikes have been recovered. I strongly advise all bike owners to note the serial number on the bike. We cross check the serial number with www.trace.com upon recovery.
