Tres Gatos Licensing Board hearing next Wed.

Hello Neighbors:

The Rhythm & Muse/ Tres Gatos team would like to thank all those who supported us at our local hearings, and/or wrote letters of support on our behalf to John Tobin and Felix Arroyo's offices. Your support had a significant impact on the process, and makes it much more likely that we'll succeed in getting a wine/ beer license for our proposed restaurant / bookstore project.

We're making good progress on the design front, and are hoping to…

If you were going to interview a leader you admire, what questions would you ask them?

Dear Neighbors,

I'm currently enrolled in the Institute of Non-Profit Management and Leadership at Boston University. Last week when I met with my mentor, Elena, for the first time, I asked her to help me find my voice as a leader.

Her first recommendation was that I interview leaders that I admire. By interviewing them, I'd learn more about leadership, their style, which will then help me guide me to find my voice.

Please help me compile questions to…

A Con that's happening in JP | "Can you help pay for my car to be towed?"

I have been approached 3 times now by a well-dressed African American woman asking me for money to help her pay for a tow truck because her car broke-down. Each time she claimed that her car was a few blocks away and that she left her little kids in the car. The first time I was approached by her on Centre street across from one of the gas stations. She asked for a specific amount of money,…

At about 5:05pm, on Sunday, February 14, 2010, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) were on patrol in the area of 1870 Columbus Ave when a Boston Firefighter exited the firehouse in order to wave the officers down. When the officers came to a stop, the firefighter informed them that an individual, who had been mugged, entered the firehouse after being attacked. Opportunity for fiber network from google

Hello neighbors!

I am not usually an advocate, but this was something I thought could be a great opportunity for the JP community. Google is going to be setting up high speed test networks and are looking for communities who have an interest in having them come in and work with them. It seems like a great opportunity to have fiber to the home finally -- something that Verizon, RCN and Comcast still are not offering yet.

I am posting this in the hope that others, who have an… Continue

Climate change, the economy and unending war: A new strategy in a time of crisis

Friday, February 5 @ 7:00 PM

First Church Unitarian Universalist, JP

The Majority Agenda Project, a new Boston-based initiative, views these issues as profoundly intertwined and,… Continue
