Neighbors,
In response to a recent discussion that veered away from the spirit or our organization I've instituted the following policy.
Going forward forward, all references to an individual or group must be respectful and in no way demeaning or derogatory.
If you have a problem with the way a person or group of people are behaving, and you wish to discuss on Neighbors for Neighbors, please specifically detail the issue you are having with the person's…

Neighbors,
As our networks around the city grow and other cities are expressing interest in working with us, I've got take better care of myself and raise money for Neighbors for neighbors. In light of this, I set two goals.
The first is to get in shape and lose 80 pounds by August 1, 2010 and the second is to raise $50,000 by the end of October 2009, and $50,000 for each quarter thereafter for Neighbors for Neighbors, Inc.
While we're…

I knew that would get your attention. I decided that rather than just bitch about dogs peeing on my bushes - I would elaborate on the bushes a bit. I recently posted this story about my Japanese styled garden and I'd love to have some feedback, discussion and potentially some trades with local gardeners!…

I walked by South St plaza/Park today (1 of several daily trips) and noticed a man sitting reading a book, another sitting listening to music, and another local guy(not homeless) just sitting there enjoying the sun as he does daily.
No drinking,peeing,swearing etc.
I've never been frightened before to walk by this area, and have asked several people who work and live in the area if they feel afraid or threatened, and they say no. The activity mentioned here does not induce fear…

As the summer finally starts to heat up, seeing the line out the door at JP Licks becomes a more and more common sight. And why not? They even provide tasty frozen treats for our canine companions. But if you're tightening the belt or wallet lately, you and your pets don't have to miss out. Below, I've included few ideas and recipes that will not only keep your cat or dog entertained, but also provide a cheap and cool refresher on those hot days of summer.

All Mayoral and At-Large City Council candidates have been invited to fill out the Voters Guide Questionnaire and attend one of the three meetings. Each candidate will have 20 minutes to introduce themselves to the audience and answer questions. JP Progressives members will ask the candidates questions based on their answers to the Voter Guide Questionnaire. If time permits, there…

Neighbors,
Did you recently loose your job? I did, and it's not pleasant - and sometimes it really sucks.
Fortunately for me, I've had a couple of friends who've "been-there done-that" and helped me craft my plan - but I still have questions and could use a little support.
Can you relate to this?
Would you prefer not to travel this journey alone?
Do you have knowledge to share and questions you'd like answers too?…

I got a call from some neighbors who had found a very sick cat over on Greenough Ave last night, the cat was taken to Angell, by one of their vets who was passing by, where it died. It was tabby with a lot of orange hair mixed in. If it is your cat or you know someone in that area who is missing a cat like it, then I'm very sorry. You might want to go to Angell and see, I don't know how long they keep them.
My cat, Shenzi, is still missing, it's been three weeks, I just hope he is…

Listen, I love dogs as much as the next guy. I've owned a
dog my whole life - they complete me. However, I am also a homeowner and a big fan of my Japanese-ish styled landscaping. I have worked very hard weeding, pruning, obsessing over my tiny postage stamp of Boston. One afternoon after having just watered said yard, I was sitting on my stoop and a passerby and his dog stopped to admire my garden - and urinate on it.

Today, I walked out of my front door and a parakeet landed literally right in front of me. He's turquoise blue with darker blue spots on his face. Right now, he's living in my china hutch... Do you know where he came from???

I've heard that the CVS at the corner of Centre St and South Huntington is looking to expand into the space vacated by Petal and Leaf and that it will include take out pizza, (rumored to be perhaps Domino's Pizza). Does anyone else know about this? Neighbors have previously expressed concern that we don't need chain fast food places, and we certainly don't need more pizza places.
The hearing is on Tuesday August 4th at 10:30am in Room 801 City Hall.
