JP looses a beloved father, friend, and neighbor

Dear Neighbors,

This Monday, May 25, we lost a beloved father, friend, and neighbor. Bill Conklin, age 42, who lived on Boylston Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, died suddenly from heart related issues. Bill leaves behind, his wife Jenn, daughters Bernadine, Nelli and son Robert.

Mayor Menino Proclaims it's Tim Reardon Day

No - I am not kidding.

This morning at the Egleston Square Main Street Annual meeting, Mayor Menino proclaimed that today, Friday, May 22, 2009 is Tim Reardon day in appreciation of all of Tim's contributions to the greater Egleston Square community of Jamaica Plain, MA.

ACTION ALERT: Vital Funding about to be slashed for youth violence prevention programs

Neighbors,

Over the last couple of days many of our non-profit partners who serve youth have been sending desperate emails informing their supporters that 18,051 teens in MA will lose their violence prevention programs if the Senate doesn’t act to fund them. The final vote is happening tomorrow.

Right here in Jamaica Plain, the Hyde Square Task Force receives $200,000 through this State budget line item. The teenagers of this State need our support, this money literally… Continue

Assaults in the South West Corridor Park. Time to organize!

Neighbors,

In today's (May 15, 2009) Jamaica Plain Gazette, there is an in-depth article titled "Stabbing raises park fears."

In summary, there have been 2 assaults in the South West Corridor Park at 135 Carolina Ave on March 13, 2009 and another on April 21, 2009 by Anson street. Please see the Gazette for details. Both assaults appear to be random and unprovoked.

Dear Neighbors,

I have some really big news.
