Where did the Polar Bears go?

Does anyone know what happened to the silver polar bear statue on the SW Corridor Park which appeared after the WUTE festival, but disappeared about a week ago?

At 4:24 pm The National Weather Service doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size hail...and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds and large hail...as well as deadly lightning and torrential rain. Get to safe shelter now inside a sturdy building or in a vehicle. Do not seek shelter under trees. If you can hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Drivers should be alert for… Continue

State Legislature’s Committee on Housing Advances Public Housing Innovations Bill

Legislation filed by Representative Jeffrey Sánchez (D-Boston) and Senator Harriette Chandler (D-Worcester) to revitalize state public housing was advanced favorably by the Joint Committee on Housing.

“Resources for state-assisted public housing are inadequate for the low-income residents, including seniors and the disabled, in need of affordable housing. This legislation provides public housing authorities greater creativity to develop innovative solutions to preserve…

Why Figment Boston 2011 Rocks

Boston feels like a real city to me now!

That's a big statement, but until recently, I've had to travel to Montreal, Miami, and NYC to enjoy the experience I had yesterday at Figment and I will again later this afternoon on the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

When I tell friends not from Boston, about Boston, I tell them it feels like a big town, mostly it's because it's walkable which I love, and but…

Take the 3 Day Challenge to Fight AIDS

30 years into the AIDS epidemic, we know what works to prevent new infections. We just need the resources to reach more people and keep the ones affected in good care.

This year, on the Wednesday-Friday before the Walk & Run, we're challenging ourselves to raise an extra $30,000 so we can reach even more people with prevention and care.

That's a 30% increase over last year for $130,000 total, so we're going to need YOUR help.

Why you should care about AIDS by Sue O’Connell

This Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of AIDS. It’s also the 26th annual AIDS Walk Boston.

I can’t blame you if you’re wondering why you should care. After all, a diagnosis of HIV or AIDS is no longer a death sentence. We know how the virus is transmitted and, let’s face it, it’s a preventable illness.

But here’s why I still care and why you should, too.

Three decades into this epidemic, gay and bisexual men are 44 times more vulnerable to HIV infection than the… Continue

Boom Cars - Rock & Roll or Noise Pollution?

My home and business are beset by the overpowered bass of Boom Cars. I have posted on this before as I would really like to get some community feedback. I've written a pretty comprehensive piece on my blog to outline the issue, what is being done around the country to remedy it and some facts.

I'm really curious to hear some alternate viewpoints and I'm hoping for some respectful, intelligent…

Real Deliverance from Hardships

When you consider the hardships of your life, the obstacles before you, the pain you are experiencing or the resources that are needed, what is most difficult?  Is the hardest part in your past, what has already happened or led up to this point?  Or, is the scariest part related to what is happening right now?  Chances are, the greatest…

The T is looking do ban open strollers, but taking a poll first. "Do you think baby strollers should be folded before customers board a bus?"
The most effected demographic by this rule would be single mothers with children, mostly in poor or minority neighborhoods that rely on bus traffic and are already historically under-serviced…
