How Is Your Goose?

One of Aesop's best-known fables is the story of the goose that laid golden eggs. A man and his wife owned a special goose that laid golden eggs. They became impatient one day and decided they didn't want to wait any longer for the goose to lay the eggs. So, they decided to cut the goose open, and get all the eggs at once. However, when they opened the goose, they…

Car Break-in on Jamaica Street, and what is happening to my (formerly?) beloved neighborhood?

Last night, my girlfriend's car got broken into on Jamaica Street. Jamaica is a quiet, one-way street off of South Street which is generally peaceful and family oriented. The thieves broke in by manipulating the driver's (street) side window so it came off its track and rummaged around but didn't find anything worth stealing. The car is a 1994 Honda Civic sh*tbox that obviously didn't have anything valuable in it. Perhaps they wanted to steal the vehicle for parts, but she had an ignition… Continue

Tire robbery on Paul Gore Street

I woke up this morning to find my roomate's car tires all gone. The car was sitting on cinderblocks with all 4 tires removed. I asked the person that lived in the house in front of where it happened if they heard anything and they said they heard some loud noises at 2am and that the mother had seen what was going on but did not call the police. I don't quite understand that........

When the police arrived they said that the same thing happened to another car on Paul Gore…

No Fear of Failure

When was the last time you failed? Was it a big or small mistake, a breakdown or a collapse - or have you suppressed almost all memories of your failure? We tend to really hate failure. Failing makes us feel ashamed. It threatens our identity - as if our identity could be built on consistent, flawless performance.

We need to remember that failure is a significant and important part of…

Energy Audit

Is anyone having an energy audit or has anyone had one and would like to talk about it for a video story that I'm producing on weatherization for The JPVoice (www.thejpvoice.com) and the programs available that offer subsidies to weatherize homes in the Boston area.

If you could let me know it would be great.

Thanks.

Great event we went to last year. It's a silent auction and includes the local restaurants serving up food. Food is included in ticket price and it's doing something for a local organization.

See you there!!

Scam on Centre Street

FYI, neighbors- there's a guy running a new twist on the "all I need is $__ to catch a bus to ____" scam, on Centre Street. He's dressed in fairly formal business attire, and claims that he's got a flat tire, his son is in the car (which is nowhere to be seen), and he "needs a patch kit." I gave him directions to the area gas stations and told him where there was an auto parts store, etc.

That's when the rest of the story comes out: he's got no cash, no credit cards, no spare tire,… Continue
