Self-Pity

Have you recently felt you deserved something, but got passed by? The first record of such feelings is in Genesis 4. Cain was downcast because his offering was not accepted by God, as Cain thought it should be. God warned him to face his condition of self-pity. He said, "If you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." (Genesis… Continue

South Street Mall and Courts, when will it open?

I have been watching the (non)development of the South Street Mall and Courts during this summer (located at south street and Carolina Street). The courts are done, what seems to be the benches are done, the trees are planted, the only thing missing it seems is the decorative fence by a local artist. Nonetheless the park needs to open soon since it has not been in use all summer when it's most needed…

How Sorry Are You?

When you do something wrong, are you willing to admit it? Some people seem to live as if they never do anything wrong - or should I say they don't ever say they are sorry. Others deny that what they have done is wrong. They simply cannot admit it. A number of others choose to rationalize what they may have done. They are always explaining away their actions or motives. Still others hide and cover their sinful or unfitting activity.

The Bible tells us a better way. We need to learn to… Continue

Be aware of where you are

I was just driving on Centre Street and while attempting to take a left on Seaverns Avenue I had to wait while a man and a woman were engaged in a conversation in the crosswalk like they didn't have a care in the world. Even after they saw me they still didn't get out of the way. They finally moved to the left but still remained in the crosswalk engaged in a conversation as I drove by!

Cooperatively Unschooling in Jamaica Plain

Last night I gave a second free seminar on how (and why) to cooperatively unschool our children in Jamaica Plain. Many parents have shared concerns about sending their children to school and they are justified to feel this way. There appears to be a ground swell regarding this topic and as a result it's time to organize! I will be giving another seminar at Boing! on Wednesday, September 22 at 7:00pm.
